  1. What does SCEM do?SCEM’s primary aim is to bring God’s glory in Scotland! In order to do this, what we aim to do is enable the churches of Scotland to host mission weeks. Most often, these occur in the summer months whilst the local schools are on holiday. Typically, this involves assisting the churches to host children’s and youth clubs whilst in recent years helping the local community in practical ways has become part of our mandate. In order to do this we aim to provide experienced leaders, a team of willing helpers and resources that the church requires in order to have their mission week. We aim to work in partnership with the church members during these missions in order to see God’s glory fall.We feel that hosting mission weeks in this way is a blessing to everyone involved. This is because the team members have the opportunity to grow in their faith in being used by God in ways that they never have been before. Also, the church will be strengthened for having seen God work in their local community and having had external impetus. This is all based on the words of Jesus in Matthew 28 verse 19 when He says, ‘Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.’ Our nation is Scotland and this is where we will make disciples for Him.
  2. Who is SCEM?
    • John Allan – Chairman
    • Brian Gooding – Treasurer
    • Margaret Thomson – Secretary
    • Jim Dornan
    • Elaine Salina
    • Colin McCaw
    • Philip Young

SCEM is made up of the above people who meet monthly to arrange all of the activities that SCEM is involved with.

  3. Can I come on a mission? All team members must be a minimum of 15 years old at the start of the mission. You will also need to be cleared by Disclosure Scotland (we will provide the forms & advice for this).
The main criterion is that you have a living faith in Jesus Christ and have a desire to share this faith with everyone.
  4. Why should I bother?God’s call is clear to go and make disciples of all nations. SCEM can give you a springboard to increase your confidence in this and trust me you will be blessed beyond your wildest dreams as you and the rest of the team become dependent on God!
  5. How much does a mission cost? The cost of mission is £40 per week which includes food and accommodation.
Often churches choose to sponsor team members to come on mission. It’s worth talking to your church treasurer about this one!
  6. What age do I need to be?All team members must be a minimum of 15 years old at the start of the mission. You will also need to be cleared by Discloruse Scotland (we will provide the forms & advice for this).
If you are mad keen to get a taste of mission and are not yet 15 you will be able to come to one of our special SCEM-Juniors missions.
  7. Accommodation? Most missions involve a wee bit of ‘roughing it’ – normally sleeping on a camp/blow-up bed in a church hall near or at the mission station itself. Don’t worry however as all team members will have access to toilet/shower facilities.
  8. What do I do?There are so many areas on mission that there is definitely one that you will fit into!
What is it you are good at? Let us get you involved in whatever way you can and also let us give you the opportunity to learn something new or trying something you have never had the opportunity to try before!

    • Singing
    • Drama
    • Telling Bible Stories
    • Giving Testimony
    • Waching Dishes (we all take a turn at this though)
    • Crafts

These are a few things you may be able to do.

  9. How can I contact SCEM?The best way to get in touch with us is to either use the contact page or email office@scem.org.uk
